High Coolant Volume

Issue: Compressor system high coolant volume

This can be an easy problem to diagnose but there are many possible reasons why you have high coolant volume.  If these fixes do not work for you or if you run into leaks, contact us.

Probable CauseWhat to Do
Excessive coolant levelCheck level; drain to lower
if necessary.
Plugged separator elementCheck separator pressure drop.
Separator element leakCheck separator pressure drop.
If low, replace element.
Plugged separator scavenge
orifice/screen
Remove and inspect orifice/screen.
Compressor operating at low
pressure  (75 psig or below)
Operate at rated pressure.Reduce system load.
Coolant system leakInspect and repair leaks.
